The Outfit: Male Edition

Every girl loves a dapper man in a suit. I mean, who would't? So when everyone is (rightly so) oozing with jealously over the best dressed women at red carpet events, we should also be taking a moment to appreciate these lovely men in even lovelier suits.

I thought I would dedicate a post to the boys and show my favourite looks from the men on the red carpet this year. I was contacted by a representative on behalf of House of Fraser asking me to collaborate on a mens Look Book and style feature. As you know (hopefully), I am a girl, therefore I do not personally wear tuxedos and male formal wear very often. However, Alexandra (the lovely representative) asked if Kyle (my boyfriend) would like to get involved and if we would like to create a Look Book on using a formal piece to smarten up a more casual look. Although he doesn't like to admit it, Kyle is a poser so of course he jumped at the chance. This May House of Fraser are sponsoring the BAFTA's so why not prep and get some style inspo off this post? (I hope!) You can find this page here.

Look 1: Chris Pine sports a classic tux look in a Giorgio Armani number. A black suit can be pretty boring if you don't do it right, but in my opinion the added quirk of a bow tie and a contrasting white shirt ticks all the boxes.

Look 2: Eddie Redmayne wore Alexander McQueen at this years Oscars and yes, he is winning. I'm not usually a lover of navy tucks but I am swayed, the fit and style looks modern and flattering and I would advise any man to now go and purchase a navy tux (it's a must).

Look 3: Ansel Elgort in his Prada suit (which is practically the same as Eddie's Tux but that's okay). I must say, navy is a winner for 2015. Wearing a slightly brighter blue tux Ansel looks dapper. The slim fit trousers and squared off shoes add a cool edge to a formal look.

After searching the web for inspiration I got my styling head on and began planning a casual made formal outfit for Kyle using a gorgeous Tommy Hilfiger shirt I was generously gifted. The shirt can be found and bought here.

For the first look I styled Kyle in some dark wash jeans. Too add interest and a cool edge I rolled up the legs and also added some boat shoes. As this is a fairly casual look, to add a more formal style I added a summer blazer which is perfect for the upcoming months.

For the second look I paired the shirt with black jeans and smart boots. The boots have been tucked under the jeans in order to create a smarter feel and again the addition of a blazer takes the look from day to night.

A formal shirt doesn't have to be worn with a full tux. You can take a formal shirt to slightly dress up a more casual look and wear it day to day.  Let me know what you thought of mine and Kyle's Look book and I would love to hear what you would dress this shirt with.

Outfit details:

Blue wash Jeans (Topman)
Boat shoes (ASOS)
Grey Summer Blazer (Zara)

Black Jeans (Topman)
Boots (Next)
Blazer (Primark)
