The Outfit: A Little Denim Dress

A Little Denim Dress

I love this dress. I love the fit, style, colour and I especially love the collar.
Teaming it with nude sandals and a baby pink satchel, I feel like this is an outfit I could wear for many occasions.

I've seen lots of denim dresses around recently so when I spotted this number I just had to get it. Being a petite frame, it is hard to find things which don't make me look like a small child! The belt and style of this dress allows me to wear denim and still feel adult enough.

The outfit: Denim

Summer is nearly here and I am so excited, even though the weather here in England isn't quite warm enough yet I still love buying summer clothes and seeing how I can wear them when the weather allows me.

For this look I decided to base it around wearing denim for a spring/summer weekend look. I have always been too scared to wear dungarees in case they make me look like a 10 year old boy, but i think I have finally found a way I can style them and feel good. These lovely vintage wash dungarees are from fat face and such a great piece. Teaming the dungarees with a striped tee and plain white trainers gives it a perfect laid back summer look. I can't wait to wear these in summer when I'm walking my dog in the park, or even going to a nice beer garden for lunch!

The second look is again using denim to create a night time outfit. I have paired my Jail bird jeans with a feminine lace detail fat face top and added some edge with my leather jacket. I love this look for if I was going shopping and straight to a meal or even just for a catch up with friends.

I am trying to see denim as acceptable to wear when 'dressing up' instead of just a 'dressing down' look. What do you like dressing your denim with? Fat face have an amazing collection for weekend wear where you can shop some of the pieces featured in my look book. You can browse this here.

The outfit: Gym

I'm not going to lie, I do not have an exercise routine, since starting uni and after quitting dancing I will admit I do not do anything to improve my health. After feeling guilty and searching fitspo accounts on Instagram I decided it was time to make a change... I joined the gym.

Anybody who knows me knows I am not a gym person but since a few of my family members have joined and we can all go together I have signed up. I am going to aim to go at least 3 times a week to ensure i'm getting my moneys worth and that I will actually see myself getting fitter and stronger. So that's it, the new me (kinda).

I must stress my aim is not to loose weight but to tone up and get fit. Although I am already naturally a size 6 I am far from healthy and fit (just watch me run up some stairs, it's laughable).

With my new gym membership in mind I headed off to get some work out wear and I must say I am loving it. I heard Primark had a good range in at the moment and it didn't disappoint. I bought all of my fitness clothing from there and it all totalled to £21! I had purchased 2 crop tops, a sports bra, gym pants and a tank top for just over £20.

It may sound vain but I did want to look (reasonably) good whilst working out so what better way to inject some colour into what you wear?

After my successful trip to Primark I headed to Sports Direct and picked myself up some lovely Nike trainers which coincidently complimented my newly bought clothes. I tried them all on when I got home and I felt that motivated I did a 30 minute work out (changed woman I tell you) and then went on to make myself and Kyle a healthy tea of brown rice, chicken, fried egg and veg.

It's only day one but I feel determined. Now I have actually joined the gym, bought the clothes and have other people to motivate me I feel like I  will look like a Victoria's secret model by summer....slightly high expectations but I will be healthier!

I would love to know anyones work out routines or healthy recipes! Let me know in the comments.

The Outfit: London

I am off to London next weekend for my Christmas present off Kyle. He is treating me to a stay over and a shopping spree so I am very excited. Even though I am going shopping when I am there it is only right to have something new to wear to go there isn't it? (back me up here)

This look is so easy to wear and I love it. I love the pop of colour and the open back detail of the shirt, I feel like the ripped knee jeans add edge to the outfit too. Paired with my trusty boots I can't go wrong.

I think this will be my shopping look, not too casual but not too dressy. London, i'm coming for you.

P.s sorry for the inside pictures, British weather so what can you do.

Planning Ahead: Paris

I am so excited, I am off to Paris on Friday for the first time ever and what better way to visit the city of Romance than with my boyfriend. I have been so ridiculously busy with uni lately as I am in my final year So I was more than happy to grab a chance to write a post about my outfit plans for my weekend away.

The day of travelling. I think Opting for a cosy jumper, leggings and boots is the best way for a travel day. It means that as soon as we arrive and have dropped off our luggage we can head off exploring the Parisian streets.

Even though it is autumn I am trying to incorporate some (and I mean, some) colour into my outfits. I've decided on my stunning long sleeved floral playsuit, with open heel boots and topped off with my cosy lilac coat.

The third and final day in Paris, oh look, i've slipped back into monochrome life. A striped jumper is a must when you're visiting Paris isn't it? Teamed with black jeans, boots and a floppy hat I will be ready to wander around at all the wonders Paris has to offer.

Competition: Ruby Prom

Last week I was lucky enough to receive my beautiful Niamh dress from Ruby Prom from which I won in the branded lab competition. I have never owned a dress, or anything for that matter, which costs this much so I was so excited. This full length sequin gown is gorgeous and perfect for a special occasion (someone please invite me to one).
I decided to go for the classic old hollywood red lip and cat flick to finish off this glamorous look. The back of the dress is just as amazing as the front, with cut out detail adding a subtle hint of sexy. ( we all have to have a subtle sexy day). I wore the dress with simple black heels too add some height to myself and make the dress drop beautifully.

I am not one for dressing up like this often, but I am so glad I have the chance too even if it was just to try this dress on! It makes me want to live the life of an upper east sider in Gossip Girl and wear dresses like this purely when nipping to the shop.

How would you style this dress?

*Thank you so much to Branded Lab and  Ruby Prom *

The Outfit: Day to Night

A few weeks ago I finished my month long internship at AX Paris, which was my third internship of the summer (now, breathe).  The lovely team gave me a Thank you card, along with an amazing Soap and Glory set. If that wasn't enough they then said I can choose anything I want off the website, as you can imagine I was like a kid in a candy store. I chose this lovely grid print (monochrome, again) skirt and thought I would show you how I would style it. (ps. you may have already seen this skirt in my last post but hey).

I thought I would, for once, add a pop of colour to my outfit. I opted for a long sleeve slouchy tee in burgundy which I thought went nicely with the grid print skirt. Finishing off the the look with Zara basic heels making the outfit perfect for day or night.

The Culottes Edit

I love the culotte trend, some people seem to pull them off so so well. As I am quite a petite size, I thought culottes may look ridiculous and over bearing on me, but then I spotted these baby's...on ebay...and I won them for a mere £3. They are vintage marks and spencer culottes in a monochrome print (made for me obviously) and just my size, some say it is fate.  They are less baggy than some designs going around at the minute, which for me I think suits me more. So here it is, how I styled out the culotte trend on a budget.

Culottes: vintage off ebay
Top: Topshop
Boots: pull and bear

I kept the styling simple, I like minimalistic looks, nothing to fancy but something that still looks like you have made an effort. I styled the monochrome culottes with my all time favourite black boots and a simple white shirt. I then forced my friend Emily out on the street to take pictures of me, of course.

How are you styling the culotte trend?

Well isn't this year going ridiculously fast? It is the 1st September 2014 and dare I say it, Christmas is just around the corner. To celebrate the new month and the fact I still have no money, I thought I would do a 'what I really want but can't afford' wish list.

Untitled #5

I have been absolutely loving basic items than you can dress up and down. My aim is to have my wardrobe filled with classic staples rather than buying everything I like (and will probably only wear once). I think it is time to step away from bargains and go for good quality items I can wear each year. (Ok, maybe a few bargains here and there)

One top, 3 looks...

After selling my life on depop I managed to gather some money and go shopping (achievement when you do not have a job, trust me). I only bought a few things, one of which being a lovely simple white top from New Look. It cost around £7 and is so versatile, I thought I would show you 3 ways of how you could wear it.

Look one: I'm a monochrome loving girly girl.

I was browsing on the Little Mistress website and dreaming of all the outfits I want (but cannot afford).  To make myself feel more productive for longing over clothes, I thought I would do a wish list. I've made an OOTD of what I would wear from the little mistress website and I absolutely love it. I went for the monochrome theme (obvs) with a kind of laid back but still dressy style. I think this outfit could work from day to night so would be perfect for a shopping day leading into cocktails later on...one can dream.

What's your favourite piece from Little Mistress?

If you read my previous blog post you will have seen my purchases I had been making from the pull and bear sale. I thought it would be nice if I should you one of the ways I have been styling them, so here it is my 'what I am wearing: pull and bear edition'

This skirt is so so comfy to wear and usually I would never go for a style like this, but I quite like it. I've kept this outfit monochrome by teaming it with a Forever 21 simple white crop. I am wearing thee boots with everything at the minute I am so obsessed with them, so obviously I had to wear this for this mono number.

I thought this looked simple but effective? Or am I completely delusional? Either way I am going to continue to wear it. In other news it is my last day at my placement tomorrow then I am on to my new one!
