House of Fraser are hosting a Styling competition called 'The Fashion Undateable's'.  Basically after choosing between two guys to style (Jarrod or Melvin) I had to style them a perfect date night outfit.

How To: A Summer Festival/ Party look

 Before I even start this post I am just going to put it out there: In no way am I a professional make up artist, I can just about manage to make myself look half decent so this tutorial and look is what I like, and what I do.

Wish List: The Coat Edit

WINTER IS COMING and I am loving it. As much as I love summer, I love the feeling of wrapping up in beautiful scarfs and jumpers and topping it all off with an amazing coat. I have to say, loads of places have a serious strong coat game right now I am lusting over so many.

From blues to pinks to your more common greys and throwing in a vibrant colour, I can't get enough of the warmers. I am on the hunt for a new winter coat so I thought I would share some of my favourites. These selection of coats are from misguided, tiptop and Dorothy Perkins.

Event: #AXPressDayAW14

Yesterday me and my friend, Sarah attended the press day for AX Paris. The day was a chance for bloggers/vloggers/instagrammers to get together and take a peek at the new AW14 collection. I was dying to try out 'home sweet home' in Manchester's Northern Quarter so to start of the day we went for some lunch there, which by the way, is so delicious and the decor is amazing! 

Even though I live in Manchester I am forever getting lost so after walking around for a while and using maps on my phone (nightmare) we arrived at the Black Dog Ball Room all ready for the AX Paris event. It was so lovely seeing the girls I worked with when I did my internship and as soon as we walked in we were offered complimentary drinks. As I opted for a coke (driving), Sarah had a yummy looking cocktail and we sat with a  lovely talented lady and had henna done. 

The clothes at the event were beautiful and got me so excited for the A/W seasons. There were so many lovely faces there and it was great to finally meet some bloggers who's blogs I have been following for a long while. I had a lovely chat with Laura (the pixie cut) who was as lovely in person as she in pictures. With a Photo Booth in one corner (must have) and an Instagram picture printer in another (how amazing) it is safe to say us bloggers were in our element. 

Sadly I had to leave early to attend work and I was so sad I was still so full from dinner when they brought out lovely little burgers and pizza and wait for it... sweet potato fries. I couldn't even face eating a cupcake! Nether the less they still all looked delicious. 

To top it off as we left we were handed a packed goody bag full of amazing treats including: a full sized Lee Stafford 'Frizz Off', Full bottle of NKD SKN fake tan, eyelashes from the Vintage cosmetic company, A make-up brush from Nanshy, Anatomicals face mask, Buddy scrub body scrub, Zoeva eye liner, Batiste plumping powder, Lipgloss from MeMeMe, Gelly nail paint from Barry M, Lip butter from Collection and not forgetting yummy treats from Tea pig, Pop chips, Jelly Belly and Vita Coco.

Planning Ahead: Paris

This week me and my boyfriend Kyle were really spontaneous and booked a trip to Paris. I have been wanting to go to Paris for SO long so now it is finally happening, with my favourite person, I could not be happier.  We are heading off at the end of Novemeber when hopefully everyone will be getting christmasy and the christmas markets will also be on (who needs Manchester when you can go to the ones at Champs Elysees?!) 

Kyle knows what I am like, and that I get a bit giddy and over excite myself without thinking things through. As we are only going for 3 days and 2 nights he wants me to plan a kind of itinerary. I have agreed to a certain degree (map out what sights I want to see) but we also agreed to just let ourselves wander around the parisian streets to see what we come across.  ( Ok, I have also wrote down all the metro stops we would need to get to and also how long it would take, I am a control freak)

We booked our flights for £100 each which I think is such a bargain, it takes us an hour and a half to get there which will (literally) fly by.  After days of deliberation we finally decided on where we are going to stay- an apartment worked out a lot cheaper than a hotel (mainly because I am very fussy) and so we are staying in a beautiful apartment in the 2nd arrondissement right next to the Louvre. 

Here is my plan for Paris so far, I was hoping some of you could help me out and recommend amazing places to go too...

1. Visit the Eiffel Tower

2. Eat some tasty Macaron's

3. Visit the Louvre

4. Add a lock to the 'love lock bridge'

5. Wander down Parisian side streets

6. Stroll along the River Seine

I would love to hear any suggestions off anyone who has been to Paris before.

Holding on tight to summer.

If like me, you live in England you will realise (apart from the odd miracle day) summer was gone a long time ago. When it was sunny one day this week I just had to take advantage and wear this dress I have been dying to wear. I found this little beauty in the Topshop sale for £9 and it was love at first sight. I went for an all white look, you know to channel Casper the friendly ghost of course. 

The dress has the cutest little pattern and a gorgeous cut out detail in the back. I styled it with my cropped blazer and sliders to complete the minimalistic summer look.

Seeing as it is now September it is probably time to say goodbye to summer and hello to oversized knitwear.

The Culottes Edit

I love the culotte trend, some people seem to pull them off so so well. As I am quite a petite size, I thought culottes may look ridiculous and over bearing on me, but then I spotted these baby's...on ebay...and I won them for a mere £3. They are vintage marks and spencer culottes in a monochrome print (made for me obviously) and just my size, some say it is fate.  They are less baggy than some designs going around at the minute, which for me I think suits me more. So here it is, how I styled out the culotte trend on a budget.

I kept the styling simple, I like minimalistic looks, nothing to fancy but something that still looks like you have made an effort. I styled the monochrome culottes with my all time favourite black boots and a simple white shirt. I then forced my friend Emily out on the street to take pictures of me, of course.

Well isn't this year going ridiculously fast? It is the 1st September 2014 and dare I say it, Christmas is just around the corner. To celebrate the new month and the fact I still have no money, I thought I would do a 'what I really want but can't afford' wish list.

I have been absolutely loving basic items than you can dress up and down. My aim is to have my wardrobe filled with classic staples rather than buying everything I like (and will probably only wear once). I think it is time to step away from bargains and go for good quality items I can wear each year. (Ok, maybe a few bargains here and there)

Slogan Style

Slogans being used within fashion isn't a new concept, it has been around for years popping in and out of trends season after season. What is the obsession of slogan fashion? To make a point? To convey emotion? Or to simply have a great slogan as part of your everyday wardrobe?

Vivienne Westwood

The designer who is known for controversy. Westwood proved her point of wanting a climate change at London Fashion Week SS13. Herself and her models paraded down the catwalk with 'Climate Revolution' printed on t-shirts.

It is fair to say she surely got her point across, celebrities such as Lady Gaga wore the shirt, along with various media sources covering the story. 

Henry Holland

House of Holland are well known for their risque and a little bit naughty slogans. In fact slogan tee's are what placed Henry on the fashion world map.

The slogans he used involved famous fashion icons in a interesting form. "Give us a blow Daisy Lowe" and "Flick ye bean for Agyness Dean" being the more risque of the collection. These type of fashion slogans are in no way offensive, they are just a form of humour which can be shown within collections. 

Katharine Hamnett 

If you think of the 80s you should certainly think of Katharine Hamnett. Designing slogan shirts for Wham and Frankie Goes to Hollywood was a major point in the designers career. In 1984 Katharine met Margarat Thatcher whilst wearing a shirt from her protest collection reading '58% don't want pershing', Hamnett used this opportunity for a photo to make a political statement.

Modern day slogan fashion

Bringing it to the modern day of 2014, where slogan fashion is less about political statement and causing controversy and more about wearing a pretty good saying on your chest- which quite frankly, I like the idea of. There are some sayings that just relate so well to every girls life and so why not wear them with pride? We are all thinking them in our heads anyway.

Rock on Ruby know me. They know my brain, how I think and what I want printed on a crop top.

The less serious tone of slogans have a subtle but great fashion impact. They are massively on trend right now, whether it be one word slogans or a whole statement- everyone every where is and should be wearing them. It adds a little something extra to an ordinary outfit, whether it be on of your life rules or a general thought, you can personalize your own top and wear it with style.

I was browsing on the Little Mistress website and dreaming of all the outfits I want (but cannot afford).  To make myself feel more productive for longing over clothes, I thought I would do a wish list. I've made an OOTD of what I would wear from the little mistress website and I absolutely love it. I went for the monochrome theme (obvs) with a kind of laid back but still dressy style. I think this outfit could work from day to night so would be perfect for a shopping day leading into cocktails later on...one can dream.
